Jason & Nicole just know.  They just know they are meant for each other, that they can’t be without each other, and that they’ll happily grow old together.   They didn’t even have to tell us….we could feel it.  They vibrate LOVE.  You can literally feel it in the air.  We can hardly wait to witness these two become husband and wife AND their rustic barnyard vision has us on the edge of our seats.  Cheers to this kind of love! Nate & Alyssa are two of the sweetest people we have ever worked with! They just have such a gentle spirit towards one another. It was just easy to be around them!

Our session was super fun! The sunset was magical AND the Super Moon made an appearance right as we were finishing up :). This was definitely one of our favorite sessions to date!

We seriously love these two!  They are down to earth and easygoing…our kind of people. We started our venture on a beautiful morning hike at Hitchcock Nature Center. It’s in Loess Hills so the terrain is made up of beautiful tall grasses that fill in the hills. We swear the sunrises are prettier here!  

After our hike, we headed to Council Bluffs airport! Aaron has a long line of pilots in his family, so it was an obvious place to finish off our engagement session. His father owns this beautiful plane and we were in awe as the crew pulled it out of the hangar!  

We had such a fun morning and can hardly wait for their wedding!

At this point, we probably don’t have to even say it, but WE LOVE DOGS.  Seriously. Obsessed. With. Dogs. So when Megan & Ye contacted us AND we found out they were bringing their fur babies… we were maybe a little TOO excited to meet with them. We headed to Two River’s State Park, located in the outskirts of West Omaha, so that the pups could run off a little energy before  their family shoot. Meg & Ye just enjoyed the scenery as the pups enjoyed the new smells and of course the squeaky toy that we brought for them :).  These two have such great energy and we just adored hanging out with them!

Every once in a while you get to photograph a couple that look like they came straight out of a Disney movie.  Brooke & Mark are just that.  Beautiful on the outside and just as spectacular on the inside. They have that fairytale type of love too; the kind that sends goosebumps throughout your body as you watch them lovingly gaze into each other’s eyes. Their wedding day was perfect!  They got married in the same chapel where Mark grew up going to church, making their story even more magical.

After their “I do’s”,  we headed to Beer City! A perfect little dive bar located in South Omaha, family-owned and where both Brooke & Mark used to work. Dive bars are our JAM and we were loving every minute of it. 

After our pit stop, we headed to the OMAR building–one of our favorite wedding venues in Omaha.  It’s spacious and urban and covered with exposed brick. The food is always good and the dance floor is always hoppin’.  

All in all, it was a beautiful day spent with Brooke & Mark. We are always so grateful that we get to do what we love! Life is so good! Here’s to an amazing future for these two. Thank you for spending your day with us!

This was seriously such a fabulous day! Sarah contacted us about doing a shoot for her family where we captured individual family photos + the entire clan in a big group family photo. The dynamics of this family is wonderful. They had us laughing so hard and smiling so big! We were honored to capture some special moments for them that we’re sure they will treasure for years to come.

Brady & Katie are getting married in April of 2017! We can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day with them :). From what they’ve told us, it sounds like it’s going to be such a blast. Here are some of our favorites from their engagement session :).

Nick & Kellie got married on September 3rd in Ord, Nebraska, and the day was absolutely perfect in every way. We couldn’t wait to make the 3 hour trip to small town Ord! Everything about this wedding had such a sentimental touch, and the vows had EVERYONE crying. Nick even built a huge cross for the ceremony. Their wedding photos show just how in love these two are. We feel so blessed to have been chosen to capture this day :).

This was definitely one of the coolest shoots we’ve ever done!  Bobby & Kati had a vision for their engagement session, and we were thrilled to be a part of it.  We got to meet their two precious pups, their parents, AND Grandpa Lou!  Grandpa Lou’s prized possession, his 1947 Chris Craft boat, was definitely the highlight of our shoot.  We even got to snap some photos of him driving it around the lake.  Bobby & Kati were naturals in front of the camera!  And the sunset was on another level.  All in all, it was an incredible evening :).

About two years ago, I typed up a bucket list.  I know it sounds silly but a podcast I was listening to at the time had mentioned it and the idea sounded wishfully fun.  Once my list was concrete, I was ready to take on the world!  Since then, I have been lucky enough to be able to check off a few things here and there.   One of them being the opportunity to photograph a wedding in Hawaii!  So you can only imagine the excitement I felt when I could finally check that baby off my list.  And yes, I marked it off before I even got on the place, but that’s just how I roll 🙂

Colin & Leisha have been together since college.  Colin is from the mainland but with deep roots in Hawaii and Leisha is a native from the beautifully bliss island of Molokai.  Molokai, one of eight islands in Hawaii, is much less traveled and the natives actually prefer it that way.  It is known for its rich agriculture, tight knit community and it’s home to the world’s highest sea cliffs.  Little did I know that when I boarded that six seater airplane, flown by pilots who looked like they were both teenagers, my outlook on life would forever change.  

Immediately after landing, I kissed the red dirt beneath my feet.  The pilots said we were lucky that the trade winds weren’t here yet as it would have been much bumpier ride.  I took a quick mental note to Google “trade winds and ferry rides to Honolulu” as soon as I made it to the hotel.  The airport was completely deserted so I called the number hanging on the wall that said “taxi“.  The drive through the town to my hotel made me feel right at home.  Molokai is a quaint little island and everyone seemed to know each other.  The island doesn’t have a stop light and there are literally chickens that cross the road.  This was definitely my kind of place :).

The next day, we met up with Colin & Leisha where their ceremony was to be held.  It was on the east side of Molokai which is completely different from the west because of the large mountain ridges that separate it.  The east side is protected from the harsh sun making it lush and green and so so colorful, words can not even describe it.  The ceremony was to be held where Leisha’s late grandfathers ashes were spread.  It was beautifully symbolic and filled with love.

The wedding day festivities were to begin bright and early the next day!  The bridal party met at a beach house on the east side and the boys were hunkered down on the west side.  The morning rain made the east side of the island look even brighter and richer than it already is.

The morning flew by and the clouds broke through making way for the sun just in time for the ceremony.  The farther east you head the narrower and narrower the road gets.  So there we were, me and eight beautiful Hawaiian girls driving in a van.  Late to the ball.  When we finally made it, you could feel the loving energy in the air.  Leisha’s uncle was the officiant and he did such a wonderful job.  The entire day was possible through the concept of ohana, the Hawaiian word for “family“.  Every member had a specific job and it all came together so beautifully.

What an amazing experience!  I am so incredibly grateful to have been immersed into authentic Hawaiian culture, graciously shared with me through the Love & Light of Colin & Leisha.  A hui hou kakou (until we meet again)

We had an engagement shoot with THE CUTEST COUPLE this weekend! And we survived the Pokemon Apocalypse!  ‪#‎winning‬ ‪#‎masonandbrandy‬

We were head over heals when we met with Tyler in regards to his perfectly planned paparazzi proposal.  Family means the world to Tyler and his beautiful girlfriend, Laura. So, he planned the sweetest proposal at the Heartland of America Park in downtown Omaha including both his and her family.  His idea was to take Laura on a boat cruise then out for a quick bite downtown.  While at lunch, we met him in the bathroom to mic him because he wanted to have the proposal on video as well.  After they ate, Tyler & Laura went on a romantic stroll through heartland and at the end of the trail both families were there for the beautiful surprise.  It wasn’t until Tyler knelt down on one knee that Laura really knew what was going on.  It was a perfect moment!  And everyone that they love was there to bear witness.  It could not have gone any better!!  We seriously LOVE documenting proposals!  The element of surprise mixed with love makes us giddy!  To plan your perfect proposal with Love & Light simply click here to > Contact us!  We’d love to hear your ideas!
